Arvoredo 28 - Ilha Do Arvoredo

Arvoredo House
Minimalism, light, and concrete define an architecture with a strong identity.
Arvoredo House sits on a 15×27m lot, positioned along the southern boundary and open to the north, east, and west.
A 5.7-meter-wide longitudinal volume runs the full length of the site — from the front setback to the rear — defining a precise, contemporary architecture with a brutalist language and noble materiality.
On the upper floor, exposed concrete shapes a volume with controlled openings; on the ground level, the same material unfolds into a plane of glass and dark walls that open toward a generous lateral void, where the interior extends into the garden. Perpendicular to this main body, the garage area is resolved beneath a metal pergola.
With 317m² of built area and expansive outdoor spaces, the house was designed to provide openness, natural light, and cross-ventilation, creating a balanced and comfortable environment.
The ground floor includes an ensuite bedroom that adds practicality and flexible use; the upper level features three ensuite bedrooms and a west-facing terrace designed for enjoying the sunset.
Materiality reinforces its contemporary character: exposed concrete, glass, and dark walls contrasted with a luminous interior; microcement bathrooms, Portobello porcelain tiles, matte-black aluminum frames, and a main entrance door in ACM. Strategically placed skylights in the stairwell and upper corridor complete the natural lighting and highlight the expressiveness of the concrete.
Every construction decision reflects a pursuit of durability, comfort, and aesthetic coherence.
